Alpahbulous – The ABC’s For All Things Fabulous!

Well, here’s a diamond in the ruff – it’s Alphabulous – a crazy preppy shop (I have known about for a while) on www.etsy.com. It’s actually my twin sister, Shepherd’s, shop. But, for all of you who are not aware of what Etsy is and the website, it’s a marketplace for small businesses for all things crafting, handmade and original!

It is BRILLIANT!

Alphabulous’ best-selling items are the handmade iron-on letters offered in over 400 different fabric designs! Let’s say, it’s their meat-and-potatoes! You have Lily Pulitzer, Amy Butler, Alexander Henry, Heather Baily, and even comic book characters, edgy designs, preppy and shabby chic – you name it, they have it. And better yet, Alphabulous has made these fantastic graduation head bands and even make Greek letters for Sorority girls – thing of your little Pi Phis or Theta girls! I mean, come on, are you freaking kidding me? They are so freaking cute!!!

And remember, letters can go on anything as long as it is cotton! Customers can order letters any size, individually or as part of a package (Name) or even on one of their Totes, T-shirts, Onesies, even Pillows – there is literally something for everyone!

And why would they stop at letters – Alphabulous makes all sorts of shapes of animals, motor vehicles and even sea fairing animals. There are bears, whales, turtles, monkies, elephants, owls, boats and even Numbers…the list goes on and on!

So start making your list(s) for your next birthday girls, boys, friends, family, nieces, nephews, college kids, Sorority Girls, co-workers – EVERYONE! Apart from their overly cuteness, everything is perfectly priced – nothing will break the bank!

No Bologna About That!

My twin sister, Shepherd, makes fun of me because I eat Bologna sandwiches! I am 43 years old and cannot live without this American Classic - in fact neither can one of the American Presidents!

I actually love the taste of Oscar Mayer’s Beef Bologna and I am not afraid to admit it. To some it sounds yucky, but I love it! It MUST be Oscar Mayer Beef Bologna and made on white Wonder Bread with Kraft Singles, chopped Iceberg Lettuce, Hellman’s Mayonaise and French’s Mustard.

It’s like a recipe and you can’t have it any other way, especially with the condiments – don’t mess with the mayo or mustard! It just wouldn’t be that sandwich I crave so much.

I used to crave, actually dream, about Bologna sandwiches in London whilst living there for 8 years. The Brits don’t recognise this special concoction of (we hope only) Beef meat parts as edible meat. But think about all of the time I suffered! Can you imagine being separated from your first love for that long?!!

And growing up in the 1970′s Bologna sandwiches were considered a healthy meal. Well, it still is considering which family you grow up with, right? I remember there was this advertising campaign for Oscar Mayer Bologna. The screen would come on, a little boy with crazy curly unkempt hair, a dangling fishing pole in one hand and a huge Bologna sandwich in the other. He looks at you and starts singing ‘My Bologna has a first name…it’s O-S-C-A-R…’ Nothing short of adorable!

And here he is…

Etsy Your Mammas Hat From The Seventies!!!

I am really bummed about my shop not opening and have been trying to think of creative ways to launch the business (again) in the United States. It’s been a slow process of rebuilding and quite time consuming – starting over is really hard I have come to realise!

I have hooked in with the community, met some really great people and have made plans to host Stitch&Bitch events soon to start making some of the hats and scarves we were making whilst in London. I have passed my cards around, hooked in with some really cool volunteer groups and plan on taking off like a bomb!

One of the creative selling channels I approached is www.etsy.com. Last year, I designed and made these fantastic Spring Easy Tie-Back Scarves for myself first and then made more for women suffering from hair loss. Being that I was the first customer, if you haven’t been following for a while, I am just 16 months out from Breast Cancer treatments.

I can tell you from personal experience they are comfy, light weight, roomy with enough space to allow your head to breathe! They wash well and are durable. And they are made in 100% Cotton these fabulous bright fabrics by Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, Jennifer Paganelli to name a few.

They cost $22.00 and ALL PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO SUPPORT THE PINK POM-POM PROJECTs crafting for cancer therapy initiative to bring crafting back and making things for victims and volunteers within Cancer communities.

And also, they don’t necessarily have to be for hairless victims – they are very cool to wear for anyone!

Running Red Lights

I was pulled over by a policeman yesterday who approached my car and asked me if I knew why I was being stopped. “I honestly have no idea why you pulled me over.” I said. “You ran a red light” he said. I was so shocked I almost started crying! Not for me, but the idea of slamming into someone else’s car and potentially killing them or their family! I Continue reading
